In a world where crises are becoming more frequent and devastating, the Church has an unprecedented opportunity to partner with God and to be a beacon of light in every city around the world. In United in Crisis, Daniel Geraci shares gripping stories of God’s miraculous power and provision working through a united network of churches in the Greater Austin area that grew to over two hundred churches in the midst of sixteen major disasters, demonstrating how God uses trained and prepared Christian volunteers to reveal the love and hope of Christ in the darkest storms.

Beyond the stories, Daniel shares the foundational building blocks that helped establish a thriving church network model that ultimately became a life-sustaining force within their city, meeting the needs of those impacted by crisis and bringing the hope of the Gospel. United in Crisis is a rallying cry for the global Church and every individual Christian to rise up as one voice, with one purpose and demonstrate Christ’s love in action, by becoming the Good Samaritan of your community and being the hands and feet of Jesus to a world in need. This book will inspire you to get equipped and ready to take part in this vital mission in your own city.

Who does your city look to in times of crisis?

With the statistical rise of disasters in the world and in our city, we began to ask a question: Who do the people look to as the Good Samaritan? The Church, or the government?

As we wrestled with this question, we did not like the answer we were forced to recognize: At least in our city of Austin, Texas, the answer was clearly the government.

We were determined to change that.

What Would Your City Look Like if the Church Was the Good Samaritan?

If the Church disappeared from your city today, would people notice? Would there be a sudden lack of provision for single mothers? An absence of assistance for low-income families? A scarcity of food and shelter for the homeless? If a disaster struck, would there be a desperate cry for the kind of care and hope the Church brings? Or, would your city shrug and move on, hardly aware of any difference?

In United in Crisis, Daniel shares gripping stories of God’s miraculous power and provision working through the Austin Disaster Relief Network (ADRN), a network of over two hundred Greater Austin churches in the midst of sixteen major disasters over a 14 year period, demonstrating how God uses trained and prepared Christian volunteers to reveal the love and hope of Christ in the darkest storms.
